Providing your patients with timely dysphagia diagnostics

Emma Henry MS, CCC-SLP

Emma Henry, owner of Henry Mobile FEES, has always been passionate about the importance of diagnostic imaging and its use in treating dysphagia. Since moving to Oxford, she has recognized a strong need for, and lack of timely access to diagnostic imaging in the area. She hopes that quicker access to, and increased utilization of, FEES in the more rural areas of Mississippi will help to improve the quality of life and care for patients.

She received her Bachelors and Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Mississippi. Over the past 7 years Emma has worked in stroke certified acute care hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facilities in Mississippi.

She is excited to be back in Oxford, MS with her husband, son, and daughter.

FEES

a quick procedure, which usually lasts less than 30 minutes, where a flexible endoscope is passed through the patient's nasal passage to provide a direct view of the pharynx, allowing for detailed examination of the swallowing mechanism and assessment of structural abnormalities or dysfunction. FEES eliminates travel for patients and does not require radiation or barium

VS

MBS

the patient swallows various consistencies of barium-coated food and liquid while undergoing exposure to radiation from fluoroscopy, a real-time X-ray imaging technique. This allows for visualization of the swallowing process as the barium moves through the digestive tract. Performed in hospital setting and requires patient to travel.
